The pioneering edutainment and
documentary network Discovery Channel first arrived to cable TV subscribers in
Southeast Asia in around 1995.Over the years since then it has been a favored
cable channel of viewers desiring programming to learn about wildlife, culture,
history and even technology. It was also a more specialized source of info for
students conducting research. The passage of time saw Discovery evolve with the
advent of new platforms like Discovery Go video-on-demand or the streaming
service Discovery+. Launched in 2020, it is will soon be available in the
Philippines thanks to a partnership with a major telecom provider.
