Winners of singing competitions
sometimes find themselves becoming judges or mentors on other such contests.
The same goes for victors of talent programs, particularly the ones who break
into showbiz, when they return to those competitions perhaps to help a favored
performer to stardom the same way there were helped. What about beauty queens,
especially the title-holders? They either become judges or host/commentators at
future pageants themselves, or they do the same but for fashion/modeling
competitions. Catriona Gray, the fourth Filipina Miss Universe (2018), is
taking a hand at the latter approach by judging in an Asian modeling reality
show.
According to The Philippine Star, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is going to
be part of the panel of judges for the upcoming next season of “SupermodelMe,”
a multiplatform modeling reality series featuring contestants from across Asia.
The show has bounced networks from AXN Asia to KIX, and host venues from
Singapore to Hong Kong to Malaysia. For season 6 the action goes back to
Singapore and Catriona is part of the judges. She revealed this on her official
Instagram page this past Thursday, July 8. There Gray posted a teaser of “SupermodelMe”
and commented, “It’s time for a revolution,” referring to the season’s tagline.
Joining Catriona with her judging
duties are Singaporean actress Ase Wang, MTV Asia VJ Hanli Hoefer, and American
photographer Yu Tsai. She is not the only Filipina on the production either, as
model Monika Sta. Maria is also on “SupermodelMe” as a task master. As a
multiplatform program, the show experience goes beyond the TV episodes with online
videos showing behind-the-scenes, model contestant bios, and weekly
confessionals. With That model Cindy Bishop as host, “SupermodelMe” season 6
will premiere anew on AXN Asia, October 11.
Before her involvement in the
program was revealed, other activities Catriona Gray has been part of recently
was joining Boy Abunda in the Q&A mentorship sessions with the contestants of
the next Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant, which is of course right up her
alley. Gray will also co-host the coronation night of the competition alongside
Nicole Cordoves this coming July 11, 9:30 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It
will air live simulcast on cable at A2Z, Kapamilya Channel and Metro Channel,
as well as livestream on iWantTFC and the official Bb. Pilipinas YouTube
channel.
