Bad news is really never easy to
take. That goes double if the bad news impacts your health and quite possibly
your life. It would be an understandable reaction to pretend you never heard it,
that it was not so. Then when you acknowledge the news you might instead try to
downplay the severity. Such a course is risky and potentially dangerous,
especially if the bad news concerns a pandemic with a highly contagious virus
like COVID-19. Experiencing the symptoms and testing positive for it is always
a harrowing experience, and one that actress Sunshine Cruz lived since last
month.
Inquirer.net reports that Kapamilya star Sunshine Cruz has revealed
that she tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in a self-imposed
isolation. Her confirmation puts to rest earlier speculation stemming from her
past entries on social media regarding her having symptoms that match the
pandemic. Cruz related her travails in a Facebook post dated Wednesday, April
14. There she admitted that her positive COVID test came back to her on March
27, and that at the time she underwent a period of self-denial about it, and
that it was some time before reality sank in.
“I thought I would be
asymptomatic and would probably just isolate myself for 14 days to make sure
that the people at home will be safe as well,” says Cruz, who did isolate
herself as a precaution but did not think she would suffer symptoms. When she
did, she began a medication regimen including “strong antibiotics” to fight
back. Her self-isolation has lasted 20 days thus far, and as of this Thursday,
April 15, Sunshine would have gone for a swab test to determine if COVID
remains in her system.
The actress hopes that her swab
test will come out negative, and then reminded her fans to stay safe and do the
long-internalized public health and safety protocols: wearing facemask, face
shield and social distance. Sunshine Cruz is a cast member of “Bagong Umaga,”
an ABS-CBN romance teleserye broadcast on A2Z and the Kapamilya Channel.
