The 2020 edition of the Miss
Universe pageant, which may as well be the 2021 edition thanks to the pandemic,
is only about two months away now. Like many other major pageants trying to
make the best of the current situation, the Miss Universe Organization is
maximizing the use of social media to show its contestants off to the world.
The Miss Philippines bet, Rabiya Mateo, has been no slouch at this online push,
as seen in her recent contribution to the Miss Universe fashion week. This past
Monday, she also got to show her stuff in a swimsuit, all in prep for this May.
According to GMA News, Rabiya Mateo posted some awesome photos of her in her
swimsuit for the upcoming Miss Universe beauty pageant, delayed as it was by
COVID-19. On her Instagram page dated Monday, March 15, Rabiya posed on an
interior set with rippling ankle-deep water, flaunting a glossy latex swimsuit courtesy
of Bessie Besana. All in all, it was a great call-forward to the approach of
summer this year, although Mateo cheekily questioned on her comment for the
post if she was late for the season. To which one might say she is not; only
the MU pageant is.
Rabiya had actually been at her hometown
in Iloilo City quite recently, before returning to Manila and then making her
way to Florida in time for the pageant. Before her departure, Mateo has also been
working on her stagecraft and interview-answering skill with the Aces &
Queens beauty queen camp. And as all Pinay beauty queens must now have a
signature bouncy walk with a catchy nickname, the 24-year-old model with a
degree in physical therapy has been hard at work in perfecting the “Hala Bira”
strut for pageant night.
Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi
of South Africa is set to pass on the title crown that she has held on to for
longer than the usual, at the 69th Miss Universe pageant, to be held
at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, this May
16.
