WENDELL RAMOS Receives FIREFIGHTER CERTIFICATION While GMA Show Still on HIATUS

It can be quite frustrating to have one’s choice of activities curtailed by extenuating circumstances. The worldwide COVID-19 pandemic practically shut down most production work in the entertainment industry, leaving many talents facing the prospect of twiddling thumbs or doing something. Many actors and artists have either established an online presence, or tried to help other people in hunkering down during the quarantine periods. Aside from charitable acts, there has also be the option of public service, as actor Wendell Ramos has, over the weekend, earned a qualification for one of the riskiest first-responder duties there is: being a firefighter.

So it was that, as The Manila Times tells it, Kapuso star Wendell Ramos would last week earn a certification to be a firefighter from the organization Ang Bumberong Pilipinas (ABP). Ramos would inform social media of his new emergency service qualification over the weekend on Istragram. The pictures depict his final exercises towards his firefighting certification, including being doused by a high-pressure fire hose. The ABP is a non-governmental organization that helps firefighter groups in the country to keep up-to-date on the latest information about their line of work.

Wendell certainly made good use of his idle time when the nationwide community quarantine on account of the COVID outbreak led to the halt of all film and TV production, including GMA7 primetime soap “Prima Donnas” which counts the 41-year-old actor as one of its principal cast. On his social media update, Ramos noted that while he was honored to have been trained and certified by the ABP to fight fires in future, he is sure that he has still a lot to learn. “It’s truly a humbling experience for me at sa inyo pong lahat na mga bumbero ng Pilipinas,” says Wendell. “Saludo po ako sa inyong lahat. Mabuhay po ang ABP nating lahat.”
