STAR CINEMA’s 2020 MMSFF Entry Starring COCO MARTIN and ANGELICA PANGANIBAN Films Scenes in DUBAI

With the announcement last year that there will be a summer edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival starting this year, major movie studios and independent filmmakers in the country have been working through 2019 to produce their entries for exhibition during the film fest period next month. And while the official list of entries was revealed this early March, some of the movies listed are still in the last stages of filming or other. That includes the Star Cinema entry “Love or Money,” which stars Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban. Quite recently the cast and crew have been filming scenes in the Middle East.

As ABS-CBN News would have it, Star Cinema has been updating on its official social media accounts some progress on “Love or Money,” their entry for the first Metro Manila Summer Film Festival (MMSFF) this coming April. This movie, under the direction of Mae Cruz-Alviar, stars top Kapamilya stars Coco Martin and Angelica Panganiban, looks to have an international enough setting, because the two of them were captured in camera while filming a scene in Dubai, UAE. The picture in question was shared by Star Cinema on their Instagram page this past Monday, March 9.

The hype being given by Star Cinema for the lead pair in “Love or Money” is notable in that this is the first time Coco and Angelica are doing a love team on the big screen. Then again, they have already had prior experience working together in a past production, namely the top Kapamilya tele-serye “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” Panganiban had once portrayed Jade Blanco aka Marta Maglipon, an arc antagonist to Martin’s main character Cardo. The images shared by Star Cinema see the two walking along a Dubai shopping center, with Coco’s character carrying two heavy shopping bags while Angelica is talking to a phone.

“Love or Money” from Star Cinema is one of eight movies that are vying for awards honors at this inaugural Metro Manila Summer Film Festival, wherein the official entries are the only movies allowed to be shown in theaters across the Philippines. Where the original Holiday-period MMFF would run from Christmas Day through the first week of New Year, its summer counterpart will start from Black Saturday on Holy Week and finish two Mondays later, from April 11 to 21.
