“JURASSIC WORLD 3” Subtitle “DOMINION” Revealed on FILMING Day One

While initially thought to have reached a creative dead end with its third installment, the “Jurassic Park” film franchise that sprung from the imagination of Steven Spielberg for Universal Pictures found a new lease on life with “Jurassic World” in 2015: a distant sequel and soft reboot of the storyline starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The movie revived interest in the franchise famous for its cloned (in-universe) or CGI (real-life) living dinosaur visuals, leading to the 2018 direct sequel “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.” Considering the setting-changing ending to that film, fans are curious as to what the in-production “Jurassic World 3” would hint at with its accompanying subtitle.

As IGN tells us, the subtitle for the third “Jurassic World” movie from Universal Pictures is now known. This information was made public on social media by filmmaker Colin Trevorrow, who directed the first “Jurassic World” in 2015 and is returning again for another go, after J.A. Bayona took charge for “Fallen Kingdom” almost two years ago. As it turned out, principal photography for the move was officially begun this past Monday, February 24, with Trevorrow sending a celebratory Twitter post to celebrate the occasion.

On the accompanying photo tweet, a clapper was shown with the logo of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” pretty much confirming “Dominion” as the subtitle for the third film of the soft reboot, used in lieu of a sequel number. Trevorrow and Universal have not shared any further details about the movie plot, but the subtitle could indicate the state of human society after “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” which saw dinosaurs freed and making their habitats all over the world after the destruction of Isla Nublar, where the Jurassic World theme park was. Dominion could imply that either humans or dinosaurs could become master over the other.
Although the “Jurassic World” films are quite distant story-wise from the original “Jurassic Park” trilogy, “Fallen Kingdom” has gone into the well of its predecessors by having Jeff Goldblum reprise as Dr. Ian Malcolm for two short expositional scenes. “Domination” looks to follow suit by this time bringing back “Park” stars Sam Neill as Dr. Grant and Laura Dern as Dr. Sattler. It is not yet known how substantial their character involvement will be compared to the current main cast portrayed by Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and Isabella Sermon. “Jurassic World: Domination” is scheduled to premiere on June 2021.
