DWAYNE JOHNSON’s DAUGHTER SIMONE Follows DAD’s Career; Starts WWE TRAINING

Perhaps enough time and years have already passed that more recent fans of Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson would see him primarily as an actor, thanks to his prominence in action adventure movies like the “Fast and Furious” franchise, the “Jumanji” soft reboot, or Disney’s upcoming “Jungle Cruise.” More long-time followers will remember Johnson as the WWE superstar known as The Rock. Dedicated “scholars” of pro-wrestling history will be able to tell later fans of Dwayne’s that he comes from a wrestling family going all the way back to his grandfather. Now that legacy might be picked up by his daughter.
Entertainment Tonight has it that Dwayne Johnson’s daughter Simone Johnson has committed to following in the footsteps of her father and family by taking up professional wrestling. She has issued a press release dated Monday, February 10, announcing that she has already joined the Performance Center, the pro-wrestling talent development agency of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Simone also posted a photo of herself, dressed in a WWE Performance Center shirt, on Instagram, where she dedicated her new direction to her past self, a “little girl who fell in love with wrestling and said, ‘this will be my life one day.’”

While the younger Johnson may have been making plans to build her professional wrestling career, the timing of her big start could not be any more meaningful. Just last month on January 15 her grandfather Rocky Johnson passed away at the age of 75. Her dad Dwayne gave an emotionally charged tribute to his parent during Rocky’s funeral. Both he and his father-in-law Peter “High Chief” Maivia, were the elder figures in the Maivia-Johnson wrestling family to which Dwayne and now Simone hail from. The two would join the then-World Wrestling Federation in its early years, and would be inducted by Dwayne to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
Simone Johnson remarked on her statement that becoming a wrestler was meaningful to her, saying, "To know that my family has such a personal connection to wrestling is really special to me and I feel grateful to have the opportunity, not only to wrestle, but to carry on that legacy."
