MARCELITO POMOY Gets Ready to Return to “AGT: THE CHAMPIONS” Season 2 Semifinals Next Month

The Philippines already know who Marcelito Pomoy is and what exactly he can do. What he can do is already an established gimmick in some Filipino singing contests, but Marcelito took it to a higher level when he won the second season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” on ABS-CBN in 2011. In addition to his vocal gifts, Filipinos were also taken in by his life story and the heartwarming reunion with his separated family during the finals. Then Pomoy took “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” by storm last week, earning a spot on the semifinals even without a Golden Buzzer. Said semis happen next month, and Marcelito is preparing for it.

The Manila Bulletin has it that “PGT” season 2 Grand Winner and “AGT: The Champions” season 2 semi-finalist Marcelito Pomoy is getting ready to take to the stage once more in order to win the biggest competitive gathering of international “Got Talent” winners and notables with his epic falsetto singing skills that have made him a one-man male-female duet sensation. Pomoy explained in interview with MB that he is expected to return to the United States before January ends, and he will perform on any of the two semi-final episodes airing the first and second week of February on NBC.

Marcelito also revealed that he was supposed to have been invited to join the regular “America’s Got Talent” competition last year on its 14th season, though he turned it down. His reasoning was that the possibility of him losing in the competition, where he is technically starting over, might invalidate his “PGT” win in the eyes of the public. Fortunately, a later message invited him to audition for season 2 of the special “Champions” edition, wherein most contestants were already local Grand Winners. Pomoy feels it was fate that he turned down a regular “AGT” stint because it left him available for this contest instead.

The second episode of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” season 2, which aired January 13, featured Marcelito Pomoy perform “The Prayer,” alternating in cover voices of original singers Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. He got a standing ovation and, though he received no Golden Buzzer, was fast-forwarded to the semi-finals anyway thanks to the “Super-fans” panel of voters from all 50 States. As part of his semis prep, Marcelito is practicing around 10 songs, but his actual piece will be chosen by the production staff.

The last preliminary episode of “AGT: The Champions” season 2 will air this Monday, January 27 on NBC, with the semifinals happening this coming February.
