It can be quite surprising at
times when an actor or actress in the Philippine entertainment industry drops
out of the public eye after not figuring in any of the latest film or TV productions,
only to suddenly reappear with news that they are part of an upcoming showbiz
project. Such can be said to apply to actress Julia Montes, who figured in
several hit tele-seryes of ABS-CBN including the remake of “Mara Clara” (2010-11)
where she played the mean queen Clara. However she has not been seen in films
since 2016 and on TV since 2018. But Montes has not retired from showbiz yet,
as recent news would tell.
According to Inquirer.net, Julia Montes is gearing up to return to the
entertainment industry in a big way after an absence of over a year. Social
media has been abuzz with photos of Julia dropping by at her talent agency
Cornerstone Entertainment Inc., on Wednesday, January 15, as shared by her
manager Erickson Raymundo. On his Instagram page Raymondo noted that Montes has
several projects awaiting her return to work, and that she would be quite busy
in entertainment for the year 2020. He has not shared specifics about these
productions but promise that the actress has “exciting months ahead!”
Another production higher-up that has helped in hyping Julia’s little showbiz comeback is Dreamscape Entertainment head Deo Edrinal. He also went on Instagram to welcome the Kapamilya star back, remarking also that “Sometimes, some people are just worth the wait.” And then there are the various celebrities that have chimed in at the news Montes is back in rotation as it were. There was a particular exchange on Twitter between Bea Alonzo and Julia, where the former bid the latter a welcome back and Montes thanked her “Ate Bea” back.
Julia Montes’ last movie was “Padre
de Familia” (2016) and her last tele-serye was “Asintado” (2018) alongside
Paulo Avelino and Shaina Magdayao on ABS-CBN. For part of 2019 she was known to
have spent time in Germany with her German biological father, and was briefly
caught up in a controversy regarding her supposedly carrying a child by Coco
Martin. Cornerstone Entertainment has debunked those rumors. Julia was seen
back in the Philippines by October 2019.
