Back when the live-action film
adaptation of hit Japanese manga “Rurouni Kenshin” and its sequels were being
released in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Japan from 2012 to 2014, Filipino fans
that were familiar with the earlier anime series version practically ate up
everything about the movies. Not only were the stellar cast praised for their
performance, there were also a lot of good things said about the soundtrack,
which includes the song “The Beginning” from J-Rock band ONE OK ROCK. They have
had a concert in the Philippines before, and this year they will be coming back
for more.
Inquirer.net has it that Manila will be one of the stops for ONE OK
ROCK on their Asia concert tour for their album “Eye of the Storm,” released in
February of last year. The event will be brought to the Philippines by PULP
Live World and AEG Presents, bringing back the J-Rock quartet of Takahiro
Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Ryota Kohama and Tomoya Kanki to rock the house for Filipino fans, many of
whom likely jumped on their bandwagon for their single “The Beginning,” which
was used as the theme song for the first live-action “Rurouni Kenshin” film
back in 2012.
The band will be performing at
the Areneta Coliseum, and tickets for the event will become available for
online purchase at Ticketnet.com next week on Monday, January 20, or
alternatively at Ticketnet outlets. The prices will range from P2,800 for
Araneta’s outermost Box B seats, to P8,500 for the Platinum seats next to the
stage. ONE OK ROCK last performed in the country back in 2018, and their “Eye
of the Storm” tour which passes through here promises to be their biggest
world-tour material yet. In interview with PULP
magazine, the band members describe the songs in their album to be an
evolution of their music over the years since starting out back in 2005.
ONE OK ROCK, of which their band name is an “Engrish” pun on their traditional practice time of “One O’Clock (PM),” will have their “Eye of the Storm” concert at the Araneta Coliseum on May 2. Gates open 6 PM with show-time starting 8 PM.
