For music fans growing up in the
1990s, they most likely have heard the songs “Ironic,” “Head Over Feet,” “You
Oughta Know” and more, all of the alternative rock genre and sung by
Canadian-American recording artists Alanis Morissette. She was in her heyday
during that decade the quintessential “anti-diva,” whose singing style and
material contrasted with the conventional divas of the time such as Mariah
Carey and the late Whitney Houston. Even Filipinos loved and appreciated Morissette
enough that she had a concert in the country way back in 1996. Nearly a
quarter-century later, she is coming back once more.
According to ABS-CBN News, Alanis Morissette will be yet another addition to the
slew of awesome foreign artists dropping in on the Philippines throughout the
year. And her turn to do a concert will be one of the earlier instances too,
thanks to concert producer Ovation Productions which has scheduled Morissette’s
2020 world tour stop in Manila on April. The concert tour is also a celebration,
with the 25-year release milestone of Alanis’ album “Jagged Little Pill”
(1995), which catapulted her to music stardom and cemented her signature anti-diva
image.
“Jagged Little Pill” contains some of the most recognizable Morissette songs in the above-mentioned “Ironic,” “You Oughta Know” and “Hand in My Pocket,” all of which received plenty of airplay as music videos during the musical height of MTV in the 1990s. Fans of Alanis’ songs with their notable range, from quirky to angst-ridden, will be pleased to know that SM Tickets will be handling admission to her concert. Purchases will go live next month of February 5, with no less than seven pricing schemes from the most affordable P2,700 to premium P12,700.
Alanis Morissette’s 2020 World
Tour will hit Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena, on April 6. Ovation Productions
has not made clear if the Canadian star’s concert night will also include overseas
guest acts like fellow 90s icon the British-American rock band Garbage, which
has been confirmed on some of the tour’s US dates for July.
