U2 Holding CONCERT in PHILIPPINE ARENA While Frontman BONO Presents DRONE BLOOD-DELIVERY Service in Country

Foreign artists performing in concerts here in the Philippines are always a splendid treat. And this week is especially cool because the visiting stars are iconic Irish rock band U2. Easily one of the most long-running rock acts around, U2 and their many hit albums have established themselves in the hearts not only of rock aficionados but even mainstream fans as well, with some of their songs featuring in blockbuster soundtracks. The band is set to perform at the Philippine Arena this Wednesday, but eagle-eyed observers would note that Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen have been in the country long before that.

As Inquirer.net reports, the legendary rock band U2 arrived in Manila as early as Monday, December 9, and have been spotted taking in the sights and having dinner at an undisclosed location in Manila, before their scheduled concert at the Philippine Arena on December 11. Their concert tour is in honor of their “Joshua Tree” album which celebrates its 30^th anniversary. While having fun looks to be definitely in the cards for U2, they also have other important matters to attend to aside from the concert. Specifically, lead vocalist Bono is also promoting his advocacy.

The following day, December 10 according to ABS-CBN News, Paul “Bono” Hewson, KBE OL, was at the headquarters of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) to announce a partnership between the organization and Zipline, an “automated logistics” service provider for which Bono is a board member. Zipline’s most notable service is a drone-based delivery system that can be used to transport on-demand medical supplies and blood deliveries by air to remote locations. The agreement was signed with Bono in attendance between PNRC chairman Richard Gordon and Zipline cofounder CEO Keller Rinaudo. The establishment of the first Zipline drone-delivery system in the Philippines is due to open in the Visayas, 2020.

U2’s “Joshua Tree” anniversary concert tour has already taken them to South Korea before arriving here in the Philippines, after which their next stop will be in India. The Philippine Arena concert, coupled with the closing ceremony of the 2019 SEA Games, is expected to cause some notable traffic issues.
