“CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS” Breaks Out FINAL TRAILER from THE CW

The long-anticipated and heavily-hyped “Crisis on Infinite Earths” inter-series crossover of the various DC shows on The CW will finally, finally, get rolling this coming Sunday on the upcoming ninth episode of “Supergirl” season 5. There has already been a solid foundation of backstory reaching back even across previous seasons of the series involved, plus recent trailers and image previews of nearly all characters from past DC TV productions getting involved in this epic. And on this final week before audiences finally get to the meat of the thing, The CW has blessed fans with one final trailer to tease them with what to expect.

Comic Book Resources tells us that “Crisis on Infinite Earths” just got one last big preview to whet the appetites of viewers for this awesome holiday crossover on The CW. Word of the trailer was shared Monday, December 2, by the DC TV franchise’s writer and consulting producer Marc Guggenheim. As he revealed, the final preview came out the following day on December 3. And the snippets from the various connected CW shows do a lot to sell both the awesomeness of the hero team-ups, and the sheer existential threat of the anti-matter multiverse annihilation.

And what spoilers have been emphasized in this trailer too. One scene sees Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) aghast as her home Earth is erased from existence. This is immediately followed by the loss of the main DC-CW Earth where “Arrow,” “Flash,” and “Batwoman” take place. The bulk of the heroes are evacuated to Earth-38, where the linchpin preventing the antimatter wave from erasing everything lies according to the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). But first the heroes must go to the yet un-erased Earths to assemble a bigger team and foil the designs of the force behind the crisis, the Anti-Monitor (also Garrett).

Here the trailer gets into money-shots promised with all the previous DC stars doing some reprisal of sorts from their past roles. The CW’s Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) goes to recruit a counterpart of his (Brandon Routh, combining his “Superman Returns” film portrayal with the “Kingdom Come” DC Comic mini), while Batwoman (Ruby Rose) meets an older, power-armored Bruce Wayne (live performance of iconic Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy). Flash (Grant Gustin) even recruits Black Lightning (Cress Williams) even though his DC show is not connected to the “Arrow”-verse. Speaking of which, Arrow (Stephen Amell) looks to be on the verge of being annihilated himself; or maybe it was an alternate.

The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” schedule is as follows: December 8 (“Supergirl”), December 9 (“Batwoman”), December 10 (“The Flash”), and finally January 14, 2020 (“Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow”).
