UNIVERSAL MOTION and Other 90’s DANCE GROUPS in EPIC DANCE CONCERT 2020

For Filipinos tuning into noontime variety shows way back in the 1990s, the trend at the time was that the show stages were the realm where dance groups reigned supreme. When a new and danceable pop song came out, sooner or later a dance group would have taken the stage with an awesome choreographed routine for it, wowing audiences and viewers alike. Names like the Universal Motion Dancers (UMD), Streetboys and The Manoeuvres were household words with fans, and some of the members of these troupes would go on to have fruitful individual showbiz careers themselves. Now however, the stage calls them one more time.

According to The Philippine Star, no less than three all-male dance groups who were all over the place on television entertainment during the nineties will assemble to party at the end of the first month of the New Year at an event in the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent. As stated above, famous teams such as the Streetboys, Maneouvres, and of course the Universal Motion Dancers are expected to stomp the dance floor at the “90’s Dance Concert: Panahon Ko ‘To.” The earliest word of this special event was shared by the UMD on their official Facebook page earlier this month.

While the entire rosters of all three featured dance groups cannot be around, the confirmed names of the members that will are sure to fill fans with nostalgia from over two decades ago. The Universal Motion will be repped by James Salas, Jim Salas, Gerry Oliva, Marco McKinley, Norman Santos and Wowie De Guzman. Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Chris Cruz, Nicko Manalo and Danilo Barrios are up for the Streetboys. Finally, Michael Flores, Jason Zamora, Joshua Zamora, Jhon Cruz, Reden, Cruz, Rene Sagaran and Jon Supan comprise the Maneovres lineup to show for this concert.

One can expect such memorable songs and associated routines for the “90s Dance Concert,” such as the signature numbers of “Always” by Erasure (UMD), “Tootsie Roll” by 69 Boys (Streetboys), and Los Del Rio’s “Macarena” (Maneouvres). And they are not the only groups carrying this event. Other troupes from that wonderful decade will take their turns on the stage too, such as Kids at Work, XPeople and Abztract Dancers. Non-dancing performers for the evening include Andrew E, Prettier than Pink and Lei Bautista.

Tickets for the “90s Dance Concert” has been available since November 9 at SM Ticket outlets nationwide. Catch it all happening on January 31. The event is presented by JS Management and SOL Aces Unlimited Co.
