His time as one of the vilest antagonist
characters ever to appear on ABS-CBN’s currently long-running hit action
teleserye “Ang Probinsyano” opposite star Coco Martin may have already ended
earlier this year in explosive fashion. But actor Baron Geisler is not worried
about fading back out of the limelight anytime soon. While he is enjoying a
nice long break following the production schedule of the primetime soap,
Geisler is also privy to certain preliminary discussions. Said talks are about
casting him back in the big screen that will start work next year. Even better,
it will be an international production.
The Manila Bulletin has it that Baron Geisler is being tapped for
an international movie project that will start production the following year.
In an article for Push, the actor
notes that he is crossing his fingers for the film to materialize as promised
by 2020, with the US-based producer having been in touch with him for some
time. As befits an international project, filming is rumored to be globe-trotting
according to Baron, with shooting locations in the Philippines, Thailand,
Mexico, and stateside in New York and Washington DC. Said producer actually
visited the country and Geisler only weeks before, and has messaged the actor
that she is looking forward to working together with him.
In the meantime, the former “Bungo”
of Cardo Dalisay’s bane in “Ang Probinsyano” was able to get into another local
film project soon after his time in the series was done. This movie has him
being cast alongside Christopher De Leon, Piolo Pascual and Joel Torre under
the direction of Laurice Guillen, though the title was yet to be revealed. For
his part, Baron remarked that his role in this movie, set in Mindanao, had him
learning and speaking the Maguindanaoan dialect. Geisler also described the
project as a blessing.
All in all, it has been a mostly
productive year for Baron Geisler, who once had something of a “bad boy”
reputation in the showbiz industry for certain workplace improprieties and
questionable behavior. Only last year, the actor voluntarily entered
rehabilitation for alcohol addiction, his second after an earlier period in
2011. At present, he is out and active in work but also considers his own self
as a “work in progress” by God. He attributes his success at staying sober and
out of trouble to the patience shown by family, friends and workmates, and he
hopes the public can see the progress he made.
