Aside from a cameo episode in “Kadenang
Ginto,” the last time Bea Alonzo has been a regular presence on an ABS-CBN
tele-serye was back in 2017, in “a Love to Last.” True, it is not as if she is
completely out of sight in show business, as the epic reception of the film “Eerie”
this year demonstrates. But perhaps many of her fans have been looking forward
to seeing Bea again every weekday on the Kapamilya primetime hours.
That wait might be coming to an
end soon, as social media posts indicate that Alonzo has started shooting her
next tele-serye with costar Richard Gutierrez. The title is not yet known, but
Generals ought to get a kick out of this: they were shooting in GenSan, at the
Fish Port Complex.
Philippine Entertainment Portal has it that several picture posts
to Instagram by Bea Alonzo fans show her and Richard Gutierrez in the General
Santos City Fish Port Complex. It would seem to confirm that part of the new ABS-CBN
tele-serye that the two will be starring on will take place in GenSan, tuna
capital of the Philippines, and will showcase the selfsame fishing industry of
the city for hopefully a good portion of an episode or more. Rather appropriately,
the time of shooting also coincided with the 2019 Tuna Festival.
As seen in the photos, both Bea
and Richard are dressed in character as presumably fish port employees, with
uniform shirts, jeans and white rubber boots with accessory face-towels. Alonzo
even seems to be rocking a short bob-cut wig for her role. The photos show the
two stars as interacting in conversation and going about work in the tuna
unloading area. Since the photos were taken during production there were also
shots of police security and Fish Port employees watching the action, though
the latter might also double as extras.
Bea Alonzo and Richard Gutierrez
apparently arrived in GenSan as early as Tuesday, September 3. Other Instagram
entries reveal that they were also accompanied by their other costars Jennica
Garcia and Rafael Rossell. While no title has been given for the show, it is
known that the story conference for it was held last July 27, and it involves
the relationship between four brothers (Gutierrez, Rossell, Jameson Blake and
Christian Bables) with their adoptive sister (Alonzo). Veteran stars in the ensemble
cast include Edu Manzano, Nonie Buencamino and Helen Gamboa.
Just as “The Bourne Legacy”
starring Jeremy Renner got record Philippine audiences due to being filmed in
the country, there can be no doubt that this new and upcoming tele-serye will
get an extra promotional boost with GenSan and the Generals as soon as it
premieres on ABS-CBN. And surely Bea, Richard and friends had some fun too for
having arrived to work during Tuna Fest, with there being activities in the
Fish Port too.
