On SILVER ANNIVERSARY, Iconic Sitcom “FRIENDS” Screening Choice Episodes CINEMATICALLY

From 1994 to 2004, ten years and ten seasons, the NBC sitcom “Friends” would cement itself in the public TV viewing audience as one of the greatest television shows ever made. With its catchy theme song, specifically written and composed for the sitcom and performed by the Rembrandts, viewers were drawn to watch while the powerhouse cast keep them invested throughout the series run. Thanks to Netflix, “Friends” got new fans via streaming since 2015. As the series makes to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the idea was to bring “Friends,” or at least its iconic episodes, to the big screen.

Entertainment Weekly tells us that Warner Bros. Television will be bringing a selection of episodes from “Friends” to cinemas for a special Silver Anniversary screening that will last three nights. And more than that, WBT will also present said episodes from the show in a new format, re-mastering the original 35mm TV camera footage into gorgeous 4K resolution, all to be had in over a thousand movie theaters across the US. Every featured episode will also include exclusive interviews with the “Friends” cast and content from either behind the scenes or deleted footage. Four episodes will be screened each night for a total of twelve.

The first night of the 25th anniversary “Friends” screening on September 23 will include the Pilot episode, “The One with the Black Out,” “The One with the Birth,” and “The One Where Ross Finds Out.” On Night 2, slated for September 28, the episodes will be TV Guide Top 100 pick “The One with the Prom Video,” “The One Where No One’s Ready,” “The One with the Morning After,” and “The One with the Embryos.” Night 3 on October 2 will culminate the Silver Anniversary cinematic screening of famous “Friends” episodes with “The One with Chandler in a Box,” “The One With Ross’s Wedding – Part 2,” “The One Where Everyone Finds Out,” and finally “The One Where Ross Got High.”

WB Television Group President and Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Gregorian had plenty of good things to say about “Friends” and its longevity with audiences despite being over two decades old at its start. She credits the cast (Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and so much more) plus the creators Marta Kauffman, David Crane and Kevin Bright, for the show’s cultural impact. “We could not be more excited to deliver these digitally remastered episodes to theaters — for the first time ever! — so that together, in a shared experience, our loyal fans can enjoy some of their favorite Friends scenes in a new way,” says Gregorian.

“Friends 25th: The One with the Anniversary” will start having tickets available for purchase at Fathom Events on August 16.
