ABS-CBN News reports that following the July 31 start of the
cinematic run for “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” the movie starring the cross-network
pairing of Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo is proven a big hit with
audiences. Such can only be interpreted that way, when the film makes P250,040,718.80
for its first weekend. By Monday, August 5, Star Cinema could rejoice of the
numbers on their social media accounts. Their Instagram post read: “A weekend
full of LOVE dahil sa inyo! Thank you, thank you very much, to all the hearts
that were reached and believed in the story of #HelloLoveGoodbye.”
While the novelty of an impromptu
love team composed of GMA-ABSCBN talent under the direction of Kapamilya romantic
auteur Cathy Garcia-Molina was a big enough draw, the studio was in the right
to mention viewers believing in the story of “Hello, Love, Goodbye.” It was
after all the story of many Overseas Filipino Workers, particularly those going
to Hong Kong where the plot unfolds. Indeed the hardships, particularly the
level of contrast between domestic workers and those with skills, make for a
great source of conflict between the characters played by Bernardo and
Richards. Their trailer scenes together, especially that question of choice,
sells everything.
"An even better morning,
everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To God be the glory!!!" So wrote Garcia-Molina
on her own Instagram. And she has every reason to rejoice, to recall the over P250
million her latest movie for Star Cinema has made and will make still. It
should also be noted that this is but the first film with a Kapuso-Kapamilya
tandem in the lead roles, with more on the way and all of which will be produced
by Star Cinema, filmmaking arm of ABS-CBN. “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is still
showing in theaters nationwide.
