She joined season 5 of “Canadian
Idol” in 2007 where she finished in third place, and then went on to release an
album and some singles in her native Canada. But it was not until 2012 and her
single “Call Me Maybe” that the name of Carly Rae Jepsen became known in pop
music circles around the world. And with that success she has built a strong
idol name globally, even getting to go on international concert tours. That of course
includes the Philippines where she performed in Manila years ago. So her Filipino
fans better buck up because she is coming back this year.
CNN Philippines has it that the Philippines will be one stop for
Carly Rae Jepsen’s “The Dedicated Tour” which kicked off this May 2019 in
Europe. Her concert in the country will be on the tour’s Asian leg which will
start in Japan. It is only for one night at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon
City, and it will be brought to Jepsen’s fans here courtesy of major promoter
Wilbros Live, which has already earmarked many special events and concerts for overseas
stars in Metro Manila this year alone.
Previous concerts by Jepsen in
Metro Manila were back in 2013, a year after her “Call Me Maybe” catapult
stardom, and again in 2015 during her “Gimmie Love Tour” for her album “Emotion.”
Her set list will highlight the top songs from her “Dedicated” album such as “The
Sound,” No Drug Like Me” and “Right Words, Wrong Time.” They in turn will be mixed
with all of her hit top songs from past performances. Yes, that includes “Call
Me Maybe.” Wilbros Live has announced the concert event on their official
Twitter page and as expected, social media is wigging out.
