Official Announcement Out for SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB S6 Coming in SEPTEMBER

Samsung consumers who are waiting to get an in-depth intro for their latest upcoming mobile devices have their long-hyped unpacking event to look forward to. But that is not until August 7 a week from now. The primary tech to be showcased is the Galaxy Note 10 phablet, but there are also the exotic Galaxy Fold phone-tablet (distinct from “phablet”) and the next Galaxy Pad “straight” tablet to expect. The Galaxy Tab S6 has already gotten some images leaked earlier this month that highlighted its unique stylus placement among other things. With that cat out of the bag, Samsung has decided to make things official.

The Verge has it that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6 got its first “real” reveal this week. The Tab S6 is a high-end device compared to the S5e released a few months ago, and the entry-level Galaxy Tab A. The Tab S6 is therefore the Korean electronics giant’s counterpart device to compete against Apple, which made tablets mainstream with its first iPad, and Microsoft with the relatively newer Surface. Close comparisons can be made with the Gen-3 iPad Pro and Surface Pro 6, both from 2018, in their capability for both work and entertainment. Here is what the Tab S6 offers.

The basic Galaxy Tab S6 has 128GB storage and 6GB of RAM. In terms of physical dimensions Samsung has their latest tablet measuring 5.7mm in thickness and 420 grams in weight, which is essentially the thinnest and lightest the Galaxy Tab series has gotten. Its improved performance is nothing to sneeze at either. A Snapdragon 855 processor provides the speed and a 7,040mAh battery gives the optimal 15 hours of continuous use. The S6 dual-cam packs a 123-degree wide-angle lens and the novel magnetic indentation that the included stylus sticks to for storage and charging.

Said S Pen now establishes styluses as being able to do more than just write or draw on the touchscreen. Remote-control capabilities like advancing PowerPoint presentation slides or triggering the camera? The Tab S6 S Pen has it. In fact, the early announcement of the Galaxy Tab S6 might foreshadow other stylus abilities for the Galaxy Note 10. Android 9 Pie is the OS for the tablet, and the whole package comes down to a price tag of $649. There is also a high-capacity (256GB/8GB storage and RAM) variant that will retail for $729, and Samsung promises an LTE version.

But for now, Samsung users can wait for September 6 to get the Galaxy Tab S6, around a full month following the August 7 unpacking event that is geared more for the Galaxy Note 10. But the tablet will surely get its time to shine.
