The name Judy Ann Santos is
easily recalled and arguably recognized as the queen of TV soap operas, being a
prominent star in ABS-CBN’s productions from the original soap opera days to
their pioneering of the “tele-serye” concept. “Juday” has certainly spent a
great many years on the small screen with occasional forays into cinema thrown
in, growing from teen icon to mature actress in doing so. She has not been seen
much on TV lately, but fans of Santos need not fret. Judging from some recent
social media pictures, Juday will soon become a supporting character in the
nation’s police drama, ABS-CBN’s “Ang Probinsyano.”
Manila Bulletin has it that Judy Ann Santos had visited the set of “FPJ’s
Ang Probinsyano” recently, based on a series of Instagram Stories posts by the
actress herself this Monday, July 15. One video showed the flowers presented to
her upon arriving at the location, with her all but confirming her potential
involvement in the Coco Martin-starred teleserye on ABS-CBN. Not long after
Juday’s social media entries went online, production outfit Dreamscape put up
their own photographs of Santos on the “Probinsyano” set, accompanying lead
star Coco still dressed as his character Cardo Dalisay.
On his own Instragram page,
Martin related Judy Ann’s visit to the teleserye set, with a photo of the two
of them hugging. He noted that being able to work with the iconic star of Philippine
TV series was a dream come true, and his statement welcoming Juday to the “FPJ
AP” family is yet another confirmation that she will join the show as a new
character in the future. It is noted to be the big return of Santos to acting,
following her last notable role in the Star Cinema film “Ang Dalawang Mrs.
Reyes,” which premiered January 2018.
Dreamscape Productions has yet to
reveal any information on what Judy Ann Santos’ prospective character will be
doing on the ongoing storyline of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” Her introduction might
easily be of similar or greater import to that of Lorna Tolentino, who portrays
the outwardly-friendly but secretly antagonistic Lilian Cortez. Fans will have
to keep up with “Ang Probinsyano,” now the longest-running primetime drama on
Philippine TV, airing all weekdays non-stop since 2015 on ABS-CBN.
