ABS-CBN and its various media assets has a strong case to assert that all talents in the Philippines are under them, and they are simply farming out some to the other networks and studios temporarily; failing that, any talents that did start out elsewhere will inevitably sign on their label. That seems to be the case now for actor-host-songwriter Janno Gibbs, who did start on GMA Network, stayed there 30 years, briefly went to TV5 and now with ABS-BCN. He just signed his contract with Star Music on Thursday, and even has a new song just right for the occasion.
Inquirer.net reports that Janno Gibbs officially joined ABS-CBN’s recording studio arm on September 13. To really sell how happy he is now to be a Musical Kapamilya as well (following his TV appearances on the network), Gibbs celebrated with a song he composed called “Feeling JKL” which will be included in a prospective Star Magic album. Said song is both an expression of the songwriter’s unabashed fandom for three of Star Network’s biggest present-day young love teams – Jadine (James Reid-Nadine Lustre), Kathniel (Kathryn Bernardo-Daniel Padilla) and Lizquen (Liza Soberano-Enrique Gil) – but also of the sensation of youth when in love.
As ABS-CBN Push tells it, while Gibbs is a follower of all three love teams, the actual title for “Feeling JKL” was suggested to him by Roxy Liquigan. He also adds into the lyrics what he describes how being in love can make persons feel younger than they are. His example goes: “The song is about kapag kasama kita, I feel young. Kasi hindi na tayo bata pero kapag kasama kita, feeling ko ako si Daniel, ikaw si Kathryn. Ganun.”
Janno Gibbs’ contract with Star Music is the first step in what he envisions as his grand comeback as a recording artist, following his decision to go on hiatus as either a TV or movie acting talent. He does not however completely discount an appearance on the big or small screens. Before, he has already guested in several ABS-CBN shows such as “ASAP”, “It’s Showtime”, “The Voice Teens” and “GGV”. But his primary focus will be making music, something he looks forward to considering he might soon be able to collaborate with longtime friends Ogie Alcasid and Jaya, both also with Star Music (and the former a contemporary of Gibbs’s back when they were still in shows on GMA Network.
