Well, US President-elect Donald Trump is still busy assembling his government as of this point in
time, a mere month before his inauguration in January 2017. The various sorts of people he has put together have garnered a wide spectrum of reactions out of the general public, ranging from approval to loud protesting disdain. In the aftermath of his recent accolade as TIME magazine’s “Person of the Year 2017” – where he couldn’t help but poke back at the cover’s title of him as “President of the Divided States of America”Trump has made a surprising new addition to his cabinet, a fellow business heavy- hitter out of the “sports entertainment” industry.

From that phrase alone you’d probably get the family name right; The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Trump has selected former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) CEO Linda McMahon to take up a cabinet position heading up the Small Business Administration, and the pick was announced by his ever-busy transition team just this December 7, Pearl Harbor Day.

The President-elect had this to say about his new SBA administrator:  “Linda has a tremendous background and is widely recognized as one of the country's top female executives advising businesses around the globe.” He went on to relate how Linda, alongside her husband WWE Chairman Vince McMahon Jr., had cofounded the professional wrestling franchise on the foundation of the original promotion ran by Vince’s grandfather Jess and father Vince Sr., and eventually grew it into a veritable entertainment company with offices and brand recognition around the world.

Linda McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO in 2009 to run twice as US Senator from Connecticut on the Republican ticket, in 2010 and 2012, only to be defeated both times. While not always a Trump fan, she and her husband have donated $4 million to the businessman-turned- president in 2007, and on this election year they blessed a political action committee supporting Trump with $6 million. The lady in question would Tweet that same day, "Honored to be appointed by President-Elect @realDonaldTrump to serve as head of @SBAgov advocating for our small businesses & entrepreneurs!"

And while her appointment will still need to be vetted for approval by the Senate, her erstwhile opponent for her 2010 Senatorial bid Dick Blumenthal, has told CNN that he’d gladly vote for her as a credible “voice of reason” added to the president-elect’s economic team.

In addition to her executive management positions in the WWE, Linda has also participated in some of the promotion’s storyline events. Furthermore, Trump himself is a friend of Vince, has also been involved in some WWE events (such as briefly “buying” Monday Night Raw), hosted two Wrestlemania events at Trump Plaza, and even got inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame’s Celebrity Wing.

The Twitter network was ablaze with reactions to Linda McMahon’s cabinet appointment, both positive and negative, and showing GIFs of either the McMahons or Trump to punctuate their messages.
