Derek Ramsay

I was very lucky that Derek Ramsay sat beside me during the Bloggers Conference of Viva Films newest movie ‘A Secret Affair’. I grabbed the chance right away of interviewing him for the Morgan Show. I know my time was limited so I focused only with the questions I think he’ll be more than happy to answer quickly. Much to my delight, Derek was so game and I guess had fun with the questions. Nothing really intriguing. I’ll try to schedule another interview in a better venue with better audio. But For now, Hope this will excite you and make you fall in love with him more.

Derek plays Anton in this Direk Nuel Naval movie, A successful businessman who is caught between true love and a deep-seated Secret Affair. Showing on October 24, 2012 and premieres tomorrow in Megamall.

Derek is also to host TV5’s Emmy-Award winning ‘The Amazing Race’ dubbed as the country’s most expensive reality show, this Monday, October 29, 2012. He will also star in a new Teleserye ‘Kidlat’, playing a superhero with Ritz Azul and Nadine Samonte.

Here are the photos of Derek I took last October 14, 2012 in a Restaurant in Quezon City.

Anne Curtis

Famas Best Actress Anne Curtis plays the role of Rafaela, a party girl, member of Friday club and a stylist in her recent movie with Viva Films, ‘A Secret Affair’.

Directed by Nuel Cisostomo Naval, Story and Screenplay by Mel Mendoza del Rosario, A Secret Affair, focuses more on the relationship of a younger/unmarried couple and their immediate circle. Also stars veteran actors, Joel Torre, Jaclyn Jose and Jackie Lou Blanco.

During the conference, Anne talked about how her Director helped her in pointing-out nuances like the rise of her eyebrows so she would be able to stay in character.

Showing on October 24, 2012, ‘A Secret Affair’ will have its premiere screening tomorrow in Megamall, 7pm. Here are the photos of Anne I took last October 14, 2012 with exclusive video.

Andi Eigenmann

Heiress of Drama Andi Eigenmann comes back in the movie scene after a long break from pregnancy.  She stars the movie ’A Secret Affair’ with Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay as her co-stars under Viva Films. Showing on October 24, 2012 and premiere night tomorrow at SM Megamall, 7pm.

Andi portrays the role of Sam, a certified playgirl, member of Friday Club.
The movie was challenging and wasn’t easy for Andi especially the throwing of the lines. She also had a hard time with first ever love scene. She wants to get better and work with people who can who can make her a good actress.  She didn’t have second thoughts of portraying the other woman. ‘I chose the role if I know I can give justice to it. I'm trying to show here what I’m capable of doing whatever is laid down to me as long as I know maganda ang projecta’ Andi said during the bloggers conference. She added ‘I need to prove that I can do better because the industry is giving me second chance. I’m willing to take it and show them I deserve it.’

Despite the many hurting words that have been said to Andi, I find it amazing seeing her still composed, strong and graceful.

Directed by Nuel Vaval ‘A Secret Affair’ tackles about lies, temptations and rules in relationship. Here are photos of Andi I took last October 14, 2012 with exclusive video.

Atom Araullo

Atom Araullo turns 30 today, October 19, 2012. I just felt the need to dedicate a birthday entry for him in my column. He is Someone who has inspired me in the fields of Journalism and Teaching. He is famous, but doesn't act like one. He is smart but doesn't boast about it. He is good but doesn't broadcast it. He is cute but doesn't claim it online (maybe when he is with his friends).

Well, I first met him way back in 2008.
I get to see him sometimes, In Starbucks, At ABS-CBN grounds or in events. His presence shuts the loud me.

Atom's report on 'Monasteryo' won as the Best News Magazine Program  in the recent 34th Catholic Mass Media Awards 2012. He is now nominated as BEST PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAM HOST with his co-anchors on Patrol ng Pilipino this 26th PMPC Star Awards for TV.

For those of you who might have missed, Atom was the 'Man on Fire' in the April 2012 issue of Cosmopolitan Philippines with Marian Rivera on the cover. Here is a snap shot and video of what he answered on the Cosmo quiz with his own handwriting.

Here are also videos of Atom from his Youtube Channel about his report on Patrol ng Pilipino about North Korea titled 'A Window Into North Korea'. The entire documentary was shot, written, and presented by Atom himself.  It's his visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) during the 100th birthday of its founding president, Kim Il Sung. A rare glimpse into a country that few people have visited, much less understand.

To end this entry, Here are photos I took of Atom last October 14, 2012 at 14th floor of ELJ Bldg. in ABS during the Bloggers Conference of TV Patrol's new segment the CCTV Patrol. Clink link for article. Happy Birthday Atom! Have a good one! Much Love!

CCTV Patrol

ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol officially launches its new segment ‘CCTV Patrol (Concerned Citizens Taking Videos)’ last October 14, 2012 through a Bloggers Conference.

The segment aims to empower the society and public through ‘citizen journalism’. The event was graced by ABS-CBN’s  News Director Ging Reyes, Former Vice President Kabayan Noli De Castro via Skype from Cagayan de Oro City and facilitated by News Reporter Atom Araullo.

‘CCTV Patrol’ will feature videos & photos of anything catchy, significant, remarkable, or news breaking that needs calling out attention be in the neighborhood or in a community captured and recorded by mounted CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, mobile phones, or any recording gadgets sent by ordinary citizens.

Kabayan said that the segment will enable and have ordinary citizens engaged in determining the day’s headlines.  Many videos they receive and report highlight crimes and negative issues that need police intervention.

To Date, many of those contributions to “CCTV Patrol” have led to some of the biggest stories that hit the headlines and revolutionized broadcast journalism in terms of reaching audiences and giving them the opportunity to influence and contribute to the news cycle.

To protect the credibility of the segment and to avoid abuse of sending misleading or inaccurate information, Verification of the news and the sender is required.

The validation could last up to 24 hours. Gusto namin na totoo ang video, hindi siya gawa-gawa lamang, and verified 'yung source’ Ging Reyes said.

This is actually a good step for ordinary citizens and not just those who are active in the social media like us to be involved in what’s happening now in our country. In little ways like taking videos, be good or bad news, we can help in spreading information. It may alarm others for doing bad things and may inspire some for doing something good for the community.

Let us all be alert and vigilant. Let’s take part in doing what is good for our country instead of always complaining and blaming others.

Send your videos and still photos to ireport@abs-cbn.com or post them on www.facebook.com/bayanmoipatrolmo.akoangsimula or to @bayanmo on Twitter.
TV Patrol will be airing a maximum of 3 videos or photos each night.

Here are some shots from the event.
By the way, I got a lot of text messages telling me they saw me on TV when this was aired. Cool!

Jonas Brothers

Jonas Brothers’ (as collective noun) (composed of Nick, Kevin and Joe) is the first international act that I get to officially cover. I was thrilled when I got the invitation to be in their Presscon at the Makati Shangrila.

I fell in love with Nick right away when he came out of the holding room. I was like a teenager smiling at him and being giddy. Haha! He was very smart and I love the way he answers questions from the Press. So masculine, kinda serious but was so in the game. Kevin on the otherhand, was funny and relax while Joe was playful & charming.

The boys will be performing together for the first time in three years at the SM Mall of Asia Arena tonight, October 19 and tomorrow October 20 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu. This was made possible by That’s Ntertainment Productions.

Here are some tidbits for you guys from the Presscon.

1) They will try halo-halo (as what they called different ice creams).
2) Dream collaboration is with Jessie J or Adele.
3) They said that the Jeepneys in the Philippines are awesome.
4) The food in Manila is great.
5) They have a 30-min-closed-door preparation before they perform.

For those of you who don’t know; Jonas Brothers have taken over the hearts and bedroom walls of teenage girls everywhere since their 2007 debut. The trio came up with albums offering sets of catchy pop tunes-- including their 2007 single from the movie Meet the Robinsons titled "Kids of the Future" which was based from the song “Kids in America” of English pop singer Kim Wilde.

JoBros,’ as their million fans fondly call them, also released their original pop radio hits like “Hold On”, as the band's first single from their self-titled second album in 2007. The iTunes Store named this single as #3 on their "Best of the Store" Playlist in 2007. Another hit song "SOS" rose to #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the band's first single to reach the Top 20.

The song "When You Look Me in the Eyes" also consolidated their success and becoming the group’s power ballad. While “Burning Up” cemented the brothers as one of the hottest commodities in the pop music when this single became a hit via digital downloads and the group's first top five single in the US and highest charting song to date.

Disney Channel’s Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream (2008) also featured these brothers as the reality series follows them on their first nationwide tour, giving fans a glimpse of how the guys prepare for concerts-- as their life of rockstars. They also headed the big screen in 2008’s Disney Channel Original Movie titled Camp Rock which they starred with Disney’s pop star Demi Lovato and followed up a sequel in 2010’s Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

Currently, Nick, Joe and Kevin are enjoying successful careers individually since leaving their days being the most culturally important American rock bands of the last decade.  Joe launched his solo career and is now a judge on the new CW music competition The Next. He was also one of the bachelors looking for love on Fox celebrity dating show The Choice.  Kevin and his wife Danielle are starring in the Reality series Married to Jonas. Nick, the youngest among the three, stepped into the shoes of J. Pierrepont Finch in Broadway’s How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.

The band has released four-bouncy, breezy pop-rock album albums have sold over eight million copies worldwide in the albums  It's About TimeJonas BrothersA Little Bit Longer, and Lines, Vines and Trying Times. In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards, won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards.

Bea Alonzo

Bea Alonzo turns 25 today, October 17, 2012.

The other night I visited her and Zanjoe Marudo
during the last taping day of her newest movie with Star Magic 24x7 Inlove.
Arriving from Singapore with ASAP Stars she went straight to taping to finish the movie which is set to come out this November 21, 2012.

Bea has always been one of the best actresses of her generation other than being one of the most beautiful inside and out. I have experienced the way she treats and deals with people. She has good memory and very accommodating. She is a woman in love.

Her recent movie with John Lloyd Cruz and Star Cinema's 'The Mistress' has already earned P252,609,405 as of October 7, 2012.

During our conversation on the set, Bea said she is very excited with her newest Teleserye 'A Beautiful Affair' still with John Lloyd Cruz. She plays the role of Genevieve Saavedra. A sheltered woman who thinks of her fortune as a curse and wanted a life with a new direction despite having everything.. She also said that the Teleserye is not a Travelogue that features just the beautiful places of Vienna and its history but rather A love story that started in Vienna.

'A Beautiful Affair' is set to premiere on October 29. 2012, replacing the phenomenal 'Walang Hanggan' of Coco Martin. It also stars John Estrada, Maritoni Fernandez, Slater Young,
Tetchie Agbayani, Jim Paredes and more..

By the way, Bea is on the cover of MOD Philippines Magazine October 2012 Issue. You may grab your copies now, available in all bookstores and magazine stands.

Here are exclusive photos of Bea Alonzo in four faces with exclusive video greeting for everyone. Happy Birthday Bea!

Alex Castro on The Morgan Show

Finally, after many months of Hiatus, The Morgan Show is back! An interview with Singer-Actor-Politician Alex Castro. This has been long overdue. It came out smooth, yet I had some flaw.. I need to practice again with my questioning. It's been awhile..

During the latter part of the interview you'll see he is wearing a different top coz we had to re-do the interview since my iTouch didn't record it properly. So disappointing and frustrating.. How I wish you guys can the see that. It was more upbeat and surprising.
But nevertheless everything still went well.

It was Wednesday afternoon when I asked him where was his set location, luckily when he replied, I was just nearby so I visited him, gave him a birthday cake and did some catching up plus the interview.

I have always liked Alex, not just because he is good looking and has a nice voice, but because he is one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met. I'm just so proud of his dedication to serve the public especially to his constituents in Marilao. Very humble, honest and real.

He started in politics at the age of 14, served as an SK Chairman for 6 years and 5 years as Councilor now ready to help and assist a larger community. He just filed his COC running for Vice Mayor of Marilao. He will be focusing more on that but he wont leave showbiz though. He believes entertaining people is also a way of public service.

Hope you guys will enjoy this interview as much as I did...

Luis Manzano and Toni Gonzaga

Star Cinema's & Viva Films' latest offering 'This Guy is in Love With You Mare' earned P23 Million on its opening day and a whooping P100 Million plus in less than a week of showing.

Yesterday, I attended the successful Block Screening of Luis Manzano sponsored and organized by Luisters (official fan base of Luis) together with LuisJens (followers of Luis and Jennylyn Mercado's sweetness) and Vilmanians at Shangrila Cineplex. Selecta Cornetto, which happens to be the latest endorsement of Luis was also there giving out 100 ice cream black and white chocolate cornettos! Simultaneously, another blockscreening happened last night at Podium Cinema with Toni Gonzaga's club ToniLex.

'This Guy Is In Love With You Mare' is one of the funniest movies ever directed by Wenn Deramas. Luis has always been telegenic, charming and witty. Toni showed her sexiness here, plus she did a powerful acting in one of her scenes other than her many funny lines and delivery. Vice Ganda had nice dresses and make-up here. Also Starring in the movie are Tessie Tomas, Manuel Chua, Edward Mendez, Boboy Garovillo and many more.

SM Cinemas, Gateway and Ayala Cinemas opened additional screenings this weekend to accommodate movie goers. To everyone on TFC, the movie also will have an international screening in Guam, Hawaii, Las vegas, San Diego, Seattle, San Bruno, Union City, Milpitas, Chicago, Bergenfield and Clifton New Jersey.

Here are the photos of Luis Manzano a week before the showing of the movie as well as Toni's photos during the Blogcon of the movie.

Sarah Geronimo

When I got the invite to cover Sarah Geronimo’s PressCon with Cherry Mobile,
I quickly said Yes even though I already booked 2 celebrity events on that day.

Not because Sarah Geronimo is a good subject for an article but because I love her dearly and I’m a fan.  It’s always gonna be a lovely moment seeing her, what more interviewing her, I’m sure that some Popsters and Ashralds can attest to that.

Prior to her arrival at Dolce, where the presscon was held, I sent a tweet asking people what non-love questions they would wanna ask; and Yes I was flooded with replies. That’s how powerful a name Sarah Geronimo can be plus the fact that she trended on twitter that day.

I was in the best table when Sarah arrived so I got good shots. I was even very fortunate to be in her holding room where she granted me photo-opp with her and a video greeting for her fans & followers.

Sarah Geronimo is the newest brand ambassador of Cherry Mobile. It was an easy decision for the company to choose her because of the natural charisma she easily draws the public. Michelle Ngu, VP for Operations of Cosmic Technologies, Inc. said that Sarah’s personality and talents complement Cherry Mobile’s promise in bringing various multimedia phones to the public’.

That was a good decision for the company since Sarah is undeniably the definition of pure and real talent.

Sarah was so in the mood answering questions yet still looking so innocent and charming.  She said on the PressCon that she was happy and was with great pleasure being Cherry Mobile’s newest endorser.

This partnership will definitely strengthen Cherry Mobile’s position in the local mobile communications industry as the leading value-for-money and feature-packed brand of phone.

“Sarah characterizes multimedia. When one asks for that one star that steals the glam light and puts up the show, she is that one answer.” said Agnes Conopio, Brand Alliance Manager of Cherry Mobile.

Sarah now joins the ranks of other Cherry Mobile endorsers, actors Robin Padilla, John Lloyd Cruz, Anne Curtis and Kim Chiu. With this dream team of brand ambassadors, Cherry Mobile continues to captivate the local mobile communications industry and deliver products that fit everyone’s lifestyle.

Sarah Geronimo is currently filming a movie with John Lloyd Cruz which will be shown next year. She will also kick-off the year by her 24 SG concert tour and a grand concert, July of next year celebrating her 10th year in the industry.

Here are the photos I took during the event with exclusive video greeting for everyone.

Callalily

Callalily is back and finally releases its fourth album ‘Flower Power’ under a new label; Universal Records. Contract Signing of the band and their manager Darwin Fernandez took place at the Universal Records Office on October 1, 2012 with Universal Records’ Managing Director Kathleen Dy-Go and Operations Manager Peter Chan.

I was very fortunate to have heard some of the cuts in the album prior to its official launch during the listening session at the board room of Universal Records.

With all fairness, Kean is vocally good. You can feel his passion & energy everytime he sings. The band’s performance comes out so smoothly yet so powerful regardless if they are playing in front of a small crowd or bigger audience.

Flower Power’ (a 10-track album, all-original, 9 Tagalog Cuts & 1 English with carrier single ‘Pasasalamat’ which is currently no.1 on Myx Countdown & the best selling single on www.mymusicstore.com.ph) is a celebration of gratitude, friendship, good music and new beginnings. The album was materialized after 3 years with songs personally written by the band members themselves based on personal experiences, like Di Kita Malilimutan’, ‘Buhay’ and ‘Walang Sumipot’. The songwriting was a group effort, with learning applied from many known excellent songwriters. By the way, My favoriteTatsi will also be doing vocals for Buhos ng Ulan in this album.

Callalily has always wanted ‘Flower Power’ to be the title of their album. It was a slogan advocacy in the 60’s and 70’s campaigning for peace and love which what they wanna give to a bigger audience now. So when the opportunity with Universal Records came in, they grabbed the chance and carefully selected powerful songs to be in the album from the many lists they had in their own treasure boxes.

During the BlogCon I threw a lot of questions and promised them that I’ll be in the launch at Eastwood Central Plaza for support.

Just 2 days before the launch, #FlowerPower has started trending on twitter till before the official rockin began on October 12, 2012.

I was there, I was one of those who cheered and screamed!I was very happy for them; that after 7 long years ‘Callalistas’ (The official fan group of the band) were still there for them showing love and shouting their hearts out. Kean was wild on stage! He sang like how he has always been! Tatsi was incredibly charming on stage playing the guitar with some vocals. Aaron has striking presence!Lem was energetic and was so in the mood.

The album launch was a huge success!
It was a night of party and celebration!
Congratulations to Callalily and to everyone who has been a part of that epic launch!

Flower Power is now available on all record bars, on www.mymusicstore.com.ph and on iTunes. You can also catch the band’s mall show on
