Gloc-9

It took me awhile finishing this entry about Gloc-9.

I wanted to listen to every song first he has on his new album; 
‘Mga Kwento ng Makata’ before I write about him and his music.

After listening; I can say I have 3 favorites!

1st is the one with Billy Crawford;

The Intro Music sounded Mexican yet delivered Filipinoish.

2nd is with Bamboo;

It’s like an international vocal mixed with a pleasant Filipino Rap.

3rd is with Moonstar 88;

It’s so refreshing to hear a girl’s vocal with Gloc-9 rapping in English.

After 6 months of writing & recording; Gloc-9 is back with a new album under a new label; Universal Records. The album’s carrier single ‘Sirena’, a collaboration with singer-songwriter Ebe Dancel is now hitting the charts & the airwaves. The music video is currently #1 on Pinoy Myx with over 2 Million Views on Youtube.

During the BlogCon last September 12, 2012, I asked him about his reaction on how well people received, accepted and liked the song despite its theme (Responsible Gay).
He jokingly answered that Many Filipinos are Gay. That I won’t believe. Haha!

But seriously, Gloc-9 is a musical genius other than being extremely talented. 
He has earned the respect of the music industry, his co-artists, co-singers,
as well as the wide audience from whatever gender to whatever class.

Right now, if you ask singers who they wanna collaborate with; their answer is just Gloc-9. And when we asked him who he wanted to do music with; his answer was Regine Velasquez which I think is going to happen anytime soon since they are now under the same Label. Who knows after performing last night with Aiza Seguerra at the Araneta Coliseum & Noel Cabangon on the 30^th; He might sing and rap with Regine this coming November in Mall of Asia Arena for the songbird’s anniversary concert.

I’ve seen Gloc-9 performed live many times already. And to every each of those; never did he perform less. He was always at his best; with all heart; with all soul; with all passion.. just as how he learned it from Francis M, his idol.

Jennylyn Mercado

Ultimate survivor on TV & in real life Jennylyn Mercado returns in the music scene with her 5^th album ‘Forever By Your Side’ under PolyEast Records.

It is a 6-track album with carrier single ‘Hindi Ka na Mag-iisa’ used as a theme-song for same title of her current afternoon soap with Sid Lucero.

My personal fave is the Pop Title Track. It sounds groovy & refreshing.

The album came out on July 23, 2012 and debuted at #4 of Astroplus’ sales chart after its first week.  A month after the released; they shot the music video of her carrier single on August 24, 2012.

As I entered the studio; Jen was having conversation with the director of her Music Video; Treb Monteras. As I said Hi to her, with all smile she replied accordingly and I guess was very happy to see me. Haha!

Jen who is 25 now; appeared in GMA-7’s soap operas; Encantadia, Super Twins, Sine Novela; Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak and currently hosting ‘Protégé; The Battle for the Big Break’, Party Pilipinas and a newly-launched Sunday Showbiz oriented show Hot TV (Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis) with Regine Velasquez, Roderick Paulate & Raymond Gutierrez.

the Bench Universe last September 13 & 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena. 

I was very fortunate to be in the ‘VIP Standing’ section for both days.

Big stars from ABS-CBN and GMA7 walked the runway with futuristic themed clothes designed by World-Class Filipino Designers; Michael Cinco, Rajo Laurel, Cary Santiago, Randy Ortiz, Joey Samson, and Furne One.

The most applauded were Jake Cuenca, Coco Martin, Paulo Avelino, Aljur Abrenica, Dingdong Dantes, Richard Gomez and Melason (Melai Cantiveros & Jason Francisco).

Jake Cuenca melted the frozen arena wearing a black thong as his final underwear show. 

I was there when Jake did first ramp for Bench from pants to shorts til his last from briefs 2 thong!

World Boxing Champ; Manny Pacquiao graced the night with wife Jinkee wearing a formal suit & a couture white gown.

The Mistress

Last night, September 11, 2012 at SM Megamall Cinema 10 was the Premiere Screening of Star Cinema’s #The Mistress in celebration of the 10^th year of the John Lloyd Cuz & Bea Alonzo’s onscreen team-up. The night was a success with the stars of the film gracing the red carpet together with Veteran Actors; Ronald Valdez, Carmi Martin & Ms. Hilda Koronel.

 Fan Bases of Bea and Lloydie were also there bringing their banners, screaming and cheering for their idols & the love team.

The trailer is nothing compared to the movie itself.

John Lloyd and Bea have both evolved into better actors.

Other than fantastic direction of Olivia ‘Inang’ Lamasan and a great story by Vanessa Valdez; The film came out daring with depth, with maturity, with conviction & with sense making the film really really brilliant. Ronaldo Valdez and Hilda Koronel’s execution and delivery were just amazing. Need not say more!

If you can just see me from where I am now; You would see me doing a standing ovation for them! They gave justice to every role; The Husband, The Wife, The Lover & The Mistress.

Just to add; during the blogger’s conference I attended exactly a week before the Premiere Night, ‘Inang’ said when you have John Lloyd Cruz & Bea Alonzo as lead stars of a movie; consider 50% already done. She has always believed in the loveteam’s chemistry.  

Some lines in the movie were not from script but directly from Bea & Lloydie. They were given the chance to do what they think will help in executing well the scenes.

I’m not in the position to give you spoilers but I’m certain your money is not even half the worth of the cinematic value of the movie. It’s an experience; a must see!

‘The Mistress’ is now showing in all theaters nationwide and was graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

Luis Manzano

Last Thursday, September 6, 2012, I brought along with me some bloggers to watch live Kapamilya Deal or No Deal hosted by Luis Manzano. I never thought they were that game standing up, cheering, dancing & shouting ‘Deal’ and or ‘No Deal’. They shared the stress and excitement the players feel then. They all had fun and were thrilled at the same time.

Observing Luis, he was very accommodating to them and as usual to everyone.

His being playful, smart & witty brings out some kind of magic;
charming the audience and viewers. 

He is indeed giving a different flavor to the show making it really tasteful!

By the way yesterday at the Premiere Screening of Star Cinema’s #The Mistress, was the first time the trailer of his new movie was shown. Coming out on October 10, 2012 with Vice Ganda and Toni Gonzaga directed by Wenn Deramas still under Star Cinema.

People who got the chance to see the trailer first were laughing their heart out especially with Luis’ natural boasting of how handsome he is and how he claims it! Hahaha!

Also Luis is supporting the Run, Ride & Roll for the Pasig River on September 30, 2012.
